If strong winds had been present, they would not have remained standing. Two 10-ft-diameter outdoor canvas umbrellas had been mistakenly left open overnight. Though not in the tent overnight to describe wind conditions, there was an indicator. A check the following morning showed one of the two main poles had snapped in half. It went up before nightfall in the back yard. It could be tested to determine if seam sealer might be needed as a touchup. It was delivered late afternoon with expected overnight rain. A Eureka Tetragon 7 was purchased as an inexpensive tent intended for car camping not for critical dependency. Never has there been a tent pole failure (an old Eureka 3 season). Needless to say, there's been bad weather experienced in tents. This review is from: Eureka! Admittedly I haven't experienced inclimate. I read reviews of this tent having leaking problems, which was something that was swaying me toward the Apex XT which seems to have a nicer fly. I'm definitely glad I went with this size.Ģ. Since I always put my backpack and gear IN the tent, I went a 3-person tent where my gear takes the place of the 3rd person. A '2 person' tent is reasonably spaced for 2 average sized people, but leaves little room for extra gear and packs. Tent 'person' ratings tend to be liberal. After reading many reviews I went with the Tetragon 7 (and I'm very happy with my decision) for a few reasons:ġ. I was deciding between the Tetragon 7 and Apex XT since I'd be using it for 2 people and I wanted it to be lightweight enough for backpacking. The Eureka line fit the bill quite nicely. The small poles also lead to holes in the rain fly when being installed, if they slip from the grommet that holds them. So far Eureka has failed to respond to 3 email requesting assistance, as their is no place to purchase these pieces to fix the tent. The metal ends do not come off, making these impossible to repair. Tear down is fast and easy, everything easily fits into the tent bag. Rainfly provides great water protection, I made it through two back to back weekend of rain and never got wet, even with some pretty serious winds during one.
Tetragon 7 review windows#
The two small poles over the windows are so thin, I've had 8 of these poles just splinter. Super easy to set up, takes about 8 minutes with two people. 5 tents had these poles break, and we were able to easily repair them. Two poles cross to form the main supports for the tent. The rain fly was also a little bit loose, which we didn't like, but it will keep you dry as long as the wind isn't. It almost won the Best Buy award, but it wasn't as comfortable as the Coleman Instant Tent 6 because its dome shape makes it hard to move around in. The tent uses 4 poles, which in itself makes it harder to setup than most 2 or 3 pole designs. Tetragon 8 Discontinued as of March 2016. The number one repair problem with the tents are the poles. After the first year of use 7 of the 12 tents were broken. Right of the bat, 1 of the 12 was missing a grommet to hold the back small pole over the window.
